Nanami Kanamori
Nanami was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, and moved to Canada to pursue a bachelor’s degree in 2017. Growing up, she competed in rhythmic gymnastics for 13 years, while she also trained in artistic gymnastics, competitive trampoline, and swimming. With her athletic background and the injuries she overcame during her training years, Nanami became keen on physical therapy and rehabilitation.
Throughout her degree at the University of Victoria, she worked as a gymnastic coach, teaching kids aged between 3 and 18, both recreationally and competitively. In 2019, she took her team to Austria to participate in World Gymnaestrada. Nanami started working in long-term care as a recreation worker in 2020. She hoped to improve the residents’ quality of life despite the strict health regulations that isolated them from the outside world during the pandemic. Here, she ignited her passion for working for the geriatric population.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her partner and her dog, going into nature, camping, hiking, and more.
